OPI XI Updates
Dear all,
The Oceans Past XI Conference is just around the corner, taking place from 15th to 19th June in Victoria, Canada. We would like to take this opportunity to share some important updates and reminders regarding the event.
- Early-bird registration ends this Friday, 15 May, please register here before the deadline to take advantage of the reduced rate.
- The conference programme is now available here. We regularly update the conference and OPI websites with important information for attendees, so please keep checking back.
- Sign up for the excursion. We have two options available: 1) a historical boat trip and 2) a whale-watching trip. Both are now available on the Eventbrite registration page under add-ons. Spaces are limited, so we encourage you to book in advance. Please note you can book these excursions at the same time as registering, or separately.
- Career Researcher (ECR) Mentoring Lunch: We are hosting a workshop where ECR scholars will have the opportunity to have lunch with one of the keynote speakers. If you are interested in participating, please register here.
- General Assembly Meeting (AGM): The AGM will be held on Thursday, 18 June, at 9:00 AM PDT (Pacific Daylight Time), in the Indigenous Law Centre, UVic & Online. An online link for remote attendance will be circulated in due time.
- Call for Governing Board Nominations: We are now accepting nominations for the next OPI Governing Board. Self-nominations are welcome. If you are nominating someone other than yourself, please confirm that the nominee is willing to stand for election and serve if elected. Please email info@oceanspast.org with the following details: job title/profession, highest degree, date of degree, disciplinary focus and a short statement not exceeding 100 words summarizing relevant autobiographical information and what you/they would bring as a Board member.
